Christine Vasquez and her husband, Nick, have been married for 20 years. They relocated to Leawood 5 years ago for its famed tight-knit communities but more specifically to place their five children in the prestigious Blue Valley Schools. Their oldest son graduated from Blue Valley High School in 2022. Their remaining four children are enrolled in the Blue Valley District at the high, middle, and elementary school levels.
Christine's passion for advocating for kids led her to spend a year as a "Story Teller" for foster kids and families with the Orphan Justice Center. To help foster kids receive permanent placements in families, she would be their voice by interviewing, photographing, and writing their stories. This led to her involvement in supportive wrap-around care for foster families and her patronage of a local adoption agency, Zoe's House Adoptions.
Upon relocation, the Vasquez family dove right into Blue Valley's thriving football community, where Christine served for two years as Co-President of the Blue Valley Touchdown Booster Club. She has also assisted with coaching her son's sports teams at Bethel Academy and the YMCA.
When she's not active with the community at large, she is also an involved church member. Throughout the years, she's served as a youth ministry leader, young adult ministry leader, women's ministry leader, and children's ministry volunteer. She's served on her church's hospitality and custodial teams and volunteered in the sound department. Christine was also a Co-leader and organizer of a mom's group in Leawood during Covid, which offered an opportunity for moms to connect, share experiences, and encourage and support each other through the unknowns of parenting school-age kids amid Covid.
Her career began with an innate passion for helping our youth realize their dreams and achieve their full potential as a college admissions representative at Westwood College. Her intention to empower the next generation with an emphasis on education grew in fervor when she became a mother and began homeschooling her own children. As their family continued to expand, they would move the kids to Bethel Academy in Missouri, where she would teach part-time and assist with after-school clubs and fundraising; until the kids changeover to public school and her transition into starting her own Design and Renovation business.
Christine knows the future of our community, state, and nation lies in the next generation. So, for Christine, there can be no better investment than an investment in our kids, which is why Christine is running for Blue Valley Board of Education.
